Dillons 5th Birthday Party

29th June 2013 - It was Dillon's Party today and I was so excited to go and play and have fun. Yes, i know all I do is go to parties and play and have fun at school but what else can I do. I can't  exactly drive myself around or go to work can I. I mean I am only 5.

So the big decision for the past two weeks has been what I'm going to wear and what present we are going to give Dillon.  Initially I said I wanted to be Repunzel because she is beautiful and has long blonde hair, but then I changed my mind and wanted to be Merida from the movie Brave.  Then I just wanted to be a princess and wear a crown and a nice princess dress.  My Papa said that I had been to all the other parties as a princess so I must choose to be someone else this time.  Suddenly I had a great idea.

I was going to be...............wait for it........................'IRON MAN'.  YAY.....yippidee yay, i'm going to be Iron Man.

Mummy wasn't too happy with this decision and naturally thought that my Papa had put me up to it or had influence my decision, but the truth is I like Iron Man, Hulk, Thor and all the Avengers.  Yes I agree my Papa has influenced me a little in this matter but I initially told my Papa when I was in nursery that I wanted a Hulk toy because in show and tell one of the boys had it and I really liked it.  I don't think I will ever turn out to be a TomBoy as my Mummy seems to think I might become (hence the rejection of boys toys and any items that related to it).   My Papa just tries to give me options so that I'm not just doing the same thing over and over again because I know that as I get older I will get bored of dressing up as a princess, I will still like all the girly things but I might want to be a female warrior of some sort in the future.

But that is the future and this is now so lets get back to my costume shall we...right so Papa says 'Yes' to Iron Man and Mummy says 'No'.  What to do? What to do? What to do?.....................I think I just had another amazing idea.......wait for it...............I will be.................'Iron Girl'.

I know it's crazy and I know there isn't such a thing as an 'Iron Girl' (i think) but i'm using my imagination here.  So I went to Dillion's birthday Party as Iron Girl.

We had a lot of fun with the entertainer, we ran around, I saw most of my friends there.  I ran around pretending to shoot all the naughty boys with my Iron Girl blaster.

Mummy was looking after Khaylen and everyone saw him and said "how cute, he looks just like Maya when Maya was a baby".  I didn't bother mum and Papa too much as I knew they would be busy with Khaylen and also Papa had to go to work. Besides I was busy myself.

After that I sat with Ayanna during lunch and we compared the food and talked loads. Dillon then cut the cake later on in the party and we all sang 'Happy Birthday' to him.

I was so so tired but still wanted to play when I got home so my mum let me stay up just a little late and I had some fun at home reading my books and playing in my playhouse while my mum took care of Khaylen.

Time for bed now.....

Sports Day

21st June -

It was a bright and sunny day today, I was very excited as it was our sports day, I had been practising my skipping and and running for a long time at school so hopefully I will come first.

My Papa wasn't able to come to the race day but Mummy did and she was very happy to see me take part.

There were a lot of different tyres of activities at school:

1) Spoon & potato race
2) Sack & Frog Jumps race
3) Javelin throw
4) Kick balls through the goal
5) Water Race

and many more.

Mrs Patel showed me where to start one of the races from.  It was a lot of fun and I got to race and play with all of my school friends.

At one point I began to get upset and cry because I couldn't do the spoon and potato race properly.  The potato kept falling down and I started crying a lot.  Mrs Patel calmed me down and we moved onto the next race before I had time to dry my tears.  I could hear my Mummy cheering me on and this gave me encouragement to carry on with the other activities.

The parents had a Spoon and potato race at the end of the day.  First all the fathers took part and then all the mothers took part.  My Mummy was running really fast but she kept dropping the potato, but she managed not to finish last which was a good thing.

At the end I came second in the races. I was a little upset at first but Mummy said it didn't matter as I did really well and as long as I had fun then that's what really matters.  My Papa was really proud of me and he gave me a big hug and a kiss.

Just another day

Today was just another school day but I made my Papa smile first thing in the morning when he was helping me get my clothes. I said "Papa did you know that of to put a hanger on top of another and turn it around then it makes a 'Heart Shape'?"

Papa laughed at how smart and random I was getting and asked me to show him what I meant:

Papa went and told mummy, I didn't think it was that funny but obviously someone did.

Father's Day & Wedding Day

16th June 2013, It’s a Sunday.  Today is a special day as I get to spend it with Papa because it’s both Father’s Day and a Wedding Day.

I love my Papa and I love celebrating Father’s Day.  Every year so far we have made something at school and then I have given it to my Papa, my Papa gets very excited at the things I make and he doesn’t pretend, he actually is excited.  This year I had a Father’s day cards that had a print of a shirt that I coloured in carefully and I also threaded some thin wool around it for decoration.   On the inside I wrote ‘To Papa, Happy Father’s Day, From Maya’ then I drew three kisses by writing the letter ‘x’ and I drew five hearts because I am five now.  I could tell that Papa was impressed with my writing.  I told him that I also made a key chain for him.  My mummy then gave him a box of aftershave from both Khaylen and me.

I think he enjoyed it because he went to have a shave and used it straight away.  I like it when my Papa smells nice after he shaves.

Next we had to have breakfast.  Now I couldn’t make him breakfast because I’m still little and Mummy said I might burn my hands in the oven.  Mummy and I made him a nice plate with a burger, sausages, hash browns and cheese (all of the food was vegetarian of course).

We had to finish breakfast very quickly because we had to get to a wedding).

I love weddings just as much as I love almost everything else.

All our main wedding happen on a Sunday, It’s a religious, social and cultural event.

At wedding you get the best food and juices and sweets and best of all I get to dress up in a lovely saree style outfit.

After I got dressed we went to my Mota Papas’ house (that’s my Papas big brother) and we went from there to the wedding.  It was a very long and boring journey so I made myself comfortable to the amusement of Mota Mummy.

When we got to the wedding finally we had to wait outside for the Groom to arrive. We were waiting for near 30 minutes so Papa decided to take me on a walk.  On the walk we found horses eating and running in a small field.

We carried on walking around and bumped into Joshna Fai and Lavina ben.  We all walked back to the main entrance and waited again for the Groom. This time luckily not for long.

As soon as we entered the main marquee we all headed to find a table to sit on.  I saw Milan and Sejal in the near distance and ran to them while shouting out their names in happiness.  I could see that they were eating sweets that had been left in little favour bags, all around the tables and chairs.  I was surprised again to find that it was my favourite sweets ‘M&M’s yay’ I screamed out in excitement whilst holding my hands over my nose and mouth.

We all had a great day at the wedding and the day was spent running around, eating food, running around again.  It was a very very long day and we left with Joshna Fai as it was going to be a very late day.

My Papa told me a nice bed time story with the new book I received as my present.   I fell asleep dreaming of castles, fairies, princesses and princes.

My Birthday

This will be a short update as it was my Birthday recently and we had a lot of fun.

We didn't have a very big party this time round as it would have been difficult for my parents to organise especially with the new arrival.  A few of the close families came and we all celebrated my special day. Everyone got me very awesome presents. Even Khaylen got me a 'Disney Princess Ball' (it was one that I can sit on and bounce bounce Bounce BOUnce..."

Mummy and Papa got me reading books from a company called Leap Frog.  The way it works is that when I put the pen to the book it says the works or tells you the story page by page.  I loved it and I started using it straight away. I was also given clothes and money and loads and loads of other toys.

It was time to cut the cake. We ordered a very nice big cake (Yummy).  It said 'Happy 5th Birthday Maya' in nice pink handwriting and it also had little chocolate buttons on the side.

I blew out the candles and everyone began to sing 'Happy Birthday' to me.  I played with my cousins and we all sat down and had party food and then had the cake.   As a special treat I was going to stay at my Nani's house on my birthday and I could go to school from their house and play with Nani and Masi's as well.
